Project Highlight: An Oasis in Salt Lake City

backyard-lighting-prettyOver looking the Salt Lake Valley, this property is the perfect place for a get-together, or a relaxing evening alone. From the fire pit, to the pergola, to the incredible pool, and stunning views, it is a true oasis. Our team had the pleasure of adding landscape lighting to enhance all the beautiful aspects this property had to offer.

Let’s start with the fire pit! Adding outdoor lighting to a fire pit area can elevate the space immensely. Since this particular fire pit had a permanent sitting space, we installed what we call sitting wall lights!

These light fixtures were installed under the edge of the permanent seat, creating a very aesthetically pleasing element to the space. We also wanted to add this style of lighting to the area because it adds a level safety to those coming and going from the fire pit. It lights the area in a soft yet purposeful way, keeping the mood one would want from a fire while providing safety to the homeowner and their guests.

This pergola was such a focal point of this property that it had to be lit! Since it was steel, we were able to install lighting directly into the frame itself.

We do this by cutting into the steel using a magnetic drill that magnetizes to the pergola. This allowed us to drill the holes precisely where we wanted the fixture to be placed. The fixtures were then recessed up into the steel frame, leaving a seamless finish.

Gate lights were a must for this property! Not only was the landscaping along the perimeter gorgeous, so was the gate itself. The gate lights were attached directly to the fence posts and beautifully illuminate the edges of the property. Since this fixture is attached to the fence, it is hardly noticeable in the day light!

One of the main reasons we light the perimeter of a property is that it diminishes the appearance of a black hole that forms in the back of a landscape after the sun goes down. Doing so not only brings an attractive touch to a yard, but also discourages trespassers!

When we saw this stunning, rock walkway, we knew it needed path lights. We installed our Talisker path light along this walkway to illuminate the way for all who ascend and descend these rock steps.

The Talisker path light is designed to illuminate an area 12' to 14' in diameter. This path light uses MR16 lamps that reflect off of the top hat. Some great features of the Talisker is that it’s heavy duty, built to last socket and lamp is protected from weather and lawn sprinklers elements.

A Word From the Project Homeowner

"I’m really, really happy with my outdoor lighting project. Keith listened to what I wanted, added his experience and artistry, and assigned an amazing crew to do the install.

The project was completed well within the original schedule, and on budget. The crew was professional, hard-working, personable, and great with my dogs. They left my yard in better shape than when they arrived.

I don’t know why I waited so long for this outdoor lighting upgrade (I’ve been in this house 10 years). It has exceeded my expectations in every regard. Thank you, Keith (and team) for a wonderful job."
