Q. How has Landscape Lighting Pro of Utah changed since you've been here?

A: Well, I'm no longer the new guy because of the growth that Landscape Lighting Pro of Utah has experienced. Since I started working here, we've added three new employees, we have a new service truck, and we have also acquired a lot of new/better equipment. We are getting bigger and better at what we do.

Q: What is your favorite part about working for Landscape Lighting Pro of Utah?

A: Being able to work outside and getting to work with my hands. I've always liked working with my hands; it keeps me active, and it keeps me from just sitting around all day at a desk or something. I like staying active and feeling like I'm staying fit.

Q: What is your favorite project you've worked on?

A: A project we worked on not to long after I started. I liked it because it was the first project that I got to see at night. I work outside installing lights all day and getting to see the end product was really rewarding. It made me appreciate the things we do more. I was able  to see the difference that lighting makes and how much better it makes a home look at night. I enjoyed working on this project because it was the first time I had a chance to see what our work actually does.

Q: How would you describe what it is you do?

A: I'm a Lighting Technician. I'm the guy who installs the lights and illuminates the homes. I light up all the trees, the water features, and all the landscaping. Sometimes that entails technical work like core drilling and working with saws and mortaring.

Q: What does true leadership mean to you?

A: In the workplace, a leader is someone who can know how hard the job is, but still understand how to teach it the right way for everyone to learn. It's important to understand the different ways people need to be taught.

Q: What piece of advice would you give to a new employee?

A: Lets see....I suppose to work hard and not slack off and follow your crew leaders direction. That's all you really need to do to be effective.

Q: What is the one accomplishment at work that you are the most proud of? Why?

A: Again, going back to that previous project, it was the first job that really helped me to appreciate exactly what it is we do here. There was another job, I was particularly proud of though, where I worked on some wash lights mounted to a balcony. I did all the wiring, mounted the fixtures, and aimed the lights perfectly. When my crew leader came around to check my work, he said I nailed it and there wasn't anything that needed to be changed. I was able to take a lot of pride in my work that day.

Q: What's the craziest thing on your bucket list?

A: To win a beard competition.

Q: What do you like to do on your days off?

A: Hang out with my friends, go up to the mountains and go four wheeling. Stuff like that.

Q: What hobbies do you enjoy?

A: Anything outdoors.

Q: Where is the best place you've traveled to and why?

A: California. It's the only place I've been to outside of Utah. We went there for a family vacation. We visited Universal Studios, Disney Land, and Sea World.

Q: What is your personal philosophy?

A: Treat others how you want to be treated. It is that simple.
